MIGUEL ANGEL MUÑOZ AMAYA

More…He is a Biologist-Ornithologist with field experience working with hummingbirds and as environmental consultant. His degree as Biologist is from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. He has experience in bird and bat research around the country. He has attended congresses and meetings in Colombia and a course in environmental sciences in Mexico. He is a member of the Ornithology Group of the Universidad Nacional GOUN and he has supported and led activities for local Bird-watching groups in Colombia, as Big Day, Christmas Census and Neotropical Waterbird Census. His field of expertise is in high-tech field research in hummingbirds as part of Ph.D. and Postdoc projects with scientist from Berkeley University, CA. His skills and knowledge have made him an asset in assisting and consulting with cine and TV companies like Warner Bros, for the making of hummingbirds’ documentaries. Nowadays, he is a bird guide and project director in flora and fauna inventories.

LILIBETH ARINDA PALACIO GÓMEZ

More…Currently, student in last semester of bachelor in Biology. Member of the Ornithology Group of the National University for Colombia (GOUN) since 2015, where she has been part of the organizing committee of events, such as the XXX Encuentro Nacional de Ornitología Mocoa-Putumayo. During 2018, she served as coordinator of this group; carrying out some undergraduate projects on training methods for the study of avifauna. She’s interested in bird banding, because of that she attended the VI International Bird Banding Course- Peru in 2018 and the VI Bird Banding and Molt Analysis Course in 2017. Along her career, she has worked as monitor in courses like plant biology, genetics, animal taxonomy and bryophyte biology. Interested in education and pedagogy, she participated in the preparation workshops for the admission exam to UN, in La Chorrera, Amazonas;. Also in the project National University for Colombia: the PEAMA as a regionalization strategy for higher quality education. She was part of the student group: Herencia Sumapaz, where she carried out training and sensitization of local communities of endemic species and the relationship with basic research in ethnobotanics.

FREDDY MONTERO ABRIL

More…researcher on Lepidopterología in Colombia since year 2000. He studied Biology at Universidad del Atlántico. He is a founder member of the Colombian Association of Lepidopterology –Asociación Colombiana de Lepideptorologia- , ACOLEP. He is a founder member of the Colombian Association of Zoology - Asociación Colombiana de Zoología-, ACZ. Speaker and exhibitor at different congresses and events related to different topics and events related with themes about nature and biodiversity in Colombia and South America. Thanks to his scientific curiosity and his experienced knowledge of Biology, he has developed and leaded research projects on fauna and flora in different regions of the country, by request of institutions such as Universidad de la Salle, Universidad del Atlántico, Unitrópico, Unimeta, Proaves, Corpoamazonía, Ecoplanet and the Colombian Association of Lepidopterology (ACOLEP), among others. With an important number of Scientific Publications, mainly about the descriptions of the descriptions of biological cycles, like Morpho rhodopteran, Lymanopoda schmidti, Neopedaliodes zipa and several more. Contributions in photographs for books specialized on butterflies like “Les Morpho”: distribution, diversification, comportment”, “Las Mariposas: un fragil Tesoro” y Colombia, país de mariposas”. Also, he has been awarded with prizes, recognitions and nominations for his photographs, publications and scientific research work about the fauna of butterflies in the country.

CAMILA E. SALAZAR FORERO

More…Biologist graduated in Universidad Nacional in Bogota. Her love for nature has guided her in her profession toward the conservation and restoration of ecosystems. For this goal she likes to work with great enthusiasm on the sensitization of the communities with which she has had the opportunity of sharing. Her artistic sensitization gives her that special skill to guide and lead groups. As a park guard in the PNN Puracé, she distinguished herself because of the development of interesting pedagogical tours and the protection of the ecosystems. Her contributions in projects to biological sciences with Nacional University, the Natural History Museum, along with the Foundation Urbe Caminante, ECODES engineering, CAR, have been of great scientific value. Knowledge of handling and use of biological collections. Management of sampling techniques in animals. She has been a Biologist Curator of the History Museum of Natural History. Currently she is the Coordinator in the Natural History Museum.

JUAN FELIX MOSQUERA

More..Actor, writer, theater teacher in the school Gimnasio Moderno during the year 2012 and half of 2013. Orquideologist, bird-watcher, he has been part of the “Asociación Bogotana de Orquideología” (ABO) for more than three years. His cultivation is located in Chocontá, Cundinamarca, and he has more than 2000 plants, founder of Wild Orchids Colombia (instagram: @wildorchidscolombia). He currently has a new project (Reserva Natural Suchequincha, instagram: @suchequincha) where he teaches courses on orchid cultivation and bird watching since 2018. ALEJANDRO GUTIÉRREZ CUESTA

More…Alejandro is a biologist from Universidad Pedagógica Nacional. Born in Macanal, a province at the southeast of Boyacá, where the green and biodiversity of the region motivated him to develop environmental projects. He has invested in his passion to protect fauna and flora of the region, years studying and monitoring several bird species in danger of extinction, like the Royal Eagle of the mountain (Spizaetus Isidori). He is a diligent collaborator in the development of projects for the regional agreements of the Boyacá south east region, between ECOPETROL (Colombian Oil Company) and CORPOCHIVOR (Chivor Regional Autonomous Corporation) in the East provinces Neira and Lengupá at the Department of Boyacá. Investigator of the Center of Attention, Valuation and Rehabilitation of CORPOCHIVOR. Enthusiastic promoter of programs for the development of ecotourism and bird sighting such as: (WINGS IN THE SKY) ALAS EN EL CIELO. Manager and promoter of AVIVATE, a net for the birds sighting composed by members of different (ONG) NGOs in the south east of Boyacá, oriented to ecotourism. Investigator and analyst of the conflict man – wildlife, invasive species, endangered species. Dedicated counselor and educator of the community on issues related to ecotourism and biodiversity.

MICHAEL ANTONIO MOLINA CRUZ

More..Student of tourism of the University of Cauca, Bird informer (Audubon and Fontour) and
administrator of El Encanto Nature Reserve, local entrepreneur who seeks through
sustainable ecotourism the recovery and conservation of strategic areas for local
populations of fauna and flora of the high magdalena In the department of Huila, looking
for the integration of communities in these spaces, he is also a bird illustrator and for 3
years he has been investigating the birds of El Encanto and surrounding areas with these
data is creating a local birdlife guide.
Together with his family he has developed tourist product of birdwatching, orchid and
coffee.

DANIELA DÍAZ

 More..Biologist graduated from the National University of Colombia. Member of de ornithology group of the national University since 2015 where she has worked in many proyects including topics as bioacustic and identification. She was part of the organizing committee of the XXX Colombian ornithology encounter in Mocoa, Putumayo. She also was part of the faun characterization team in Bochica, Chipaque, a project directed by Applied Biodiversity Foundation. She has participated in the elaboration of field guides of birds for the community. She is interested in conservation and functional and ecological aspects about birds. She considers very important to work along with the community for reaching conservation goals.

ERIKA SANCHEZ

More…Biologist-ornithologist. Member of the ornithology group of the National University of Colombia (GOUN) since 2017. Graduated of the Incca University of Colombia, has directed activities of sighting under the Global Big Day and supported Christmas censuses and censuses of Neotropical aquatic birds, also was part of the project of evaluation of participatory monitoring in the department of Huila, municipality of Aipe, managed by the Biological Resources Research Alexander Von Humboldt Institute. Developed undergraduate research with the support of the scholarships “Colombia Biodiversa" and “Asocolflores”. Has experience in identification of birdlife in the sub Andean forest.

I have worked as a communication manager in business environments and as a public informant and journalist in the multiple manifestations of the mass media (press, radio and television), truthful interpreter of events and public opinion maker. In the educational area, I have been a university professor, I have had commercial training positions and I have developed scripts for internal business training programs under the face-to-face and e-learning methodology, adapting to the new teaching technologies. Since 2006 I have my professional card as a tour guide, and since then I work as such in all the Colombian territory, serving tourists of different
nationalities.

ANDRÉS FELIPE SIERRA

More…Biologist graduated from the National University of Colombia. Member of the ornithology group of the National University where he was part of the academic activities of the group, such as bird counts, like christmas counts and Global Big Day; and activities with local communities both in Bogotá and in other areas in Cundinamarca. In 2017 with the group, he was part of the organizing comitee of the thirtieth national ornitology encounter in Mocoa, Putumayo. In 2018 he developed his undergraduated thesis in Bogotá, studying the reproductive relations between a brood parasite (shiny cowbird) and its host (rufous-collared sparrow). He has participated of the colombian congress of ornithology (2016) and the colombian congress of zoology (2018).

ALVARO ANDRÉS MARIÑO

More…Biologist from the National University of Colombia, interested in ecological processes that occur in the páramo ecosystems, made his undergraduate thesis
within the research project that sought to investigate the responses of the frailejones to the global change in the Sumapaz moor, in which I participate National Parks of Colombia, the Botanical Garden of Bogotá José Celestino Mutis and the Missouri Botanical Garden. By participating in this project he acquired skills in the R (The R Project for Statistical Computing) program. He attended the scientific writing workshop in ecology and evolutionary biology, organized by the Humboldt Institute of Colombia. It has high capacity for teamwork, creating good interpersonal relationships and for field work; with aptitude of commitment, responsibility and organization.

ANA RIVERA

More…Biologist of the Universidad Incca de Colombia, with extensive experience in areas of research and
data collection in the field. Active member of the Student Committee of the Colombian Society of
Mastozoology, the Colombian Network of Students interested in Mastofauna and the Tropical
Ecology and Biogeography Research Group (ECOBIT). She has collaborated in the development of
inventories of arthropods and mammals in the province of Tequendama, as a research assistant
with the Santacruz Zoological Foundation and the Ingenial Foundation Colombia, institutions with
which she has structured and developed environmental awareness workshops with rural schools
and community. Representative of the Universidad Incca de Colombia in the XV Regional Meeting
of Research Seedlings (REDCOLSI) and in the V Congress of Zoology and III Congress of
Mastozoology as an exhibitor in the Seminary of Connectivity and Phototramp. Her degree work
was based on a description of the home range of a group of Andean night monkeys in a misty
forest, for which she had the opportunity to share and learn from researchers at the Proyecto
Primates Foundation. His interests focus on the conservation of ecosystems, ecology of animal
movements, basic ecology, GIS, mainly applied to neotropical mammals and high Andean
ecosystems.
